Nowadays, people still get tattoos for a few of the same motives as they did 5000 years ago; for differentiation as a warrior, for divine protection, as memorials, and as decorum. So in modern times, what exactly does someone's tattoo tell us about these? It's simple to make assumptions about people based off of their symbols, but these assumptions aren't always accurate.
There are two layers of the symbolism of an individuals tattoos. The first is that the more significant meaning of the symbol and the second is your private interpretation of the significance.
Each blossom symbolizes an emotion of existence, but the act of tattooing flowers tells others that you have a sensitive side and reverie of character. Where the tattoo is located on your system sends a message as well. Rib cage tattoos tell the world that you are courageous and robust in the face of adversity. Forearm tattoos convey a fiercely independent character and a healthy sense of passion.
Tattoos on the throat and face speak a disregard for social norms. White and white tattoos versus colorful tattoos send messages as well. Someone who chooses a symbol in shades of black has a darker side.
Their world is most definitely complex and not found in shades of white and black. On the flip side, people who have more colorful tattoos are individuals who can be persuaded by external forces more easily although their fire is evident in all things. The most symbolic aspect of tattoos would be the judgment that they bring with them.
Regardless of the conventional or personal symbol of tattoos, having them in places where the public can see them are not meant to be ignored. While the tattoo person may not be asking to be judged, they are sending a message unique to their character.
